September 29, 2010 - Syd's Apple Orchard Field Trip

Sydney had her first field trip for school and they went to Beckwith Orchards in nearby Kent.  They were brought on a tour of the apple orchards and farm and taught about apples by a woman who dressed like Johnny Appleseed.

She also showed them a chestnut tree.  Syd was so excited to find a chestnut under the tree - and she even found one to take home for Chase, too!


They visited an old log cabin in the woods that used to be a play cabin for the kids on the farm a long time ago.  The highlight of this was when she showed them an outhouse.  The kids couldn't believe they went potty outside.


The apples and cider afterwards were a huge treat!  Fun times at the Apple Orchard!
